The holiday of Lord Ganesha is celebrated all around the world. However, it is more enjoyed in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana.
Story of Ganesh Chaturthi(Vianayk Chaturthi):
The Ganesh Chaturthi festival has been celebrated for many years. The Ganesh Chaturthi a celebration honouring his mother Goddess Parvati/Gauri, and welcoming Lord Ganesh from Kailash Parvat to Earth. During the celebration, Shri Bal Gangadhar Tilak, also known as Lokmanya Tilak, installed clay statues of Lord Ganesha both publicly and privately in Pune in the year 1893 atop lavish pandals (temporary stages). The basis for the idea is found in the legend surrounding the birth of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati’s son. She created Ganesha with her sandalwood paste in the absence of Lord Shiva and placed him under watch while she went to the bathroom. While she was gone, Lord Shiva and Ganesha fought since Ganesha was not allowed inside as per his mother’s instructions. Lord Shiva, furious, severed Ganesha’s head. When Parvati caught sight of this scene, she transformed into the goddess Kali and declared that she would end the world. Everyone was concerned about this and prayed to Lord Shiva to find a solution and subdue Goddess Kali’s fury. Shiva then commanded all of his servants to run off and find a youngster whose mother was neglectfully turning her back on her child and bringing his head. The first infant seen by the disciples was an elephant, whose head was chopped off and given to Lord Shiva as instructed. The head was instantly put on Ganesha’s body by Lord Shiva, who then revived it. Goddess Parvati was once again overpowered as Maa Kali’s fury subsided. Ganesha is blessed by every deity which is why the day is still followed today as a Ganesh Chaturthi.
Significance Of Ganesha Chaturthi:
Vinayak Chaturthi, which falls on Purnima (Full Moon Day) or the fourth day of Shukla Paksha, is one of these fortunate occasions. Puja Vidhi Of Ganesha Chaturthi:
The ten-day Ganesh Chaturthi celebration culminates with the “Visarjan,” in which the Ganesh idols are immersed in water. The event commemorates Lord Ganesh’s descent from “Kailash Parvat” with his mother, the goddess Parvati/Gauri. Small statues of the elephant-headed god are placed in houses to begin the celebrations. This custom, known as “sarvajanik idol installation,” dates back to the nationalist and liberation hero Bal Gangadhar Tilak of India. In front of idols and temples around the nation, special prayers, “aartis,” and hymns are sung, and preparations of “prasad” like the god’s favourite “modaks” are seen.
During this auspicious day of Ganesh Chaturthi, we also recommend praying to Lord Ganesh Puja with a Vedic priest for a shower of wisdom, happiness, and prosperity.
